They, are referred to as ‘systems», since the fexible wrap products are fire tested in conjuction with the duct to be protected. thus they are not fire rated wrap «products», rather the product and duct tested together become de fire resistence-rated duct «system». in contrast, a gypsum shaft assembly is not actually tested as four walls enclousing the duct, but rather as an individual shaftwall, which is clearly not a duct «system».
Hundreds of lives are saved and thousands of injuries are avoided annually during building fires because of recent advancements in construction-phase firestopping efforts that minimize the transmission of smoke and other combustion byproducts into abutting areas. Firestopping is a material (or combination of materials) used in reestablishing the fire rated integrity of a wall or floor assembly compromised by the inclusion or exclusion ofa penetrant.
in building construction an expansion joint is a mid structure
separation designed to relieve stress on building materials caused by building movement Building movement at expansion joints is primarily induced by: thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes, sway caused by wind.
Intumescent coating, often referred to as intumescent paint, is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to protect load -bearing elements of buildings against fire. Intumescent coating delays the collapse of the structure through insulating the structural elements (columns, beams, floors and roofs) that support the building, thus helping achieve fire resistance levels specified in terms of time Therefore it fulfills the highest priority of passive fire protection: preventing the collapse of the building, allowing the time for safe evacuation of people from it and making it safer for the emergency services and rescue team.
Architectural sealants are applied to the exterior of a building to prevent any outside elements from entering the structure
Architectural sealants must be able to maintain an impassible seal while also being movable between similar and different
substrates.
